Jim is a 1976 graduate of South Dakota State University and a 1979 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law. He joined the firm immediately following graduation from law school and is the President of James C. Roby, P.C., a partner in the firm. The primary areas of his practice are business transactions and banking law, commercial litigation and real estate matters.
Jim is listed in The Best Lawyers in America© in commercial litigation and bet-the-company litigation. He is a member and Past President of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association and serves on several state and local boards including the boards of the South Dakota Building Authority, the South Dakota Education Enhancement Funding Corporation, the South Dakota State University Alumni Association, the Watertown Development Company and the Mellette Memorial Association.
Nancy is a 1983 graduate of Augustana College and a 1986 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law. She clerked for Senior United States District Court Judge Andrew W. Bogue in Rapid City, SD for two years before joining the firm in 1988. The primary areas of her practice are estate planning, trust and estate administration, real estate and family law. She has also served as legal counsel to the Bishop of the Dakotas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church since 1989. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Tim is a 1985 graduate of the University of South Dakota and a 1988 graduate of Drake University Law School. After a two-year clerkship with the Third Judicial District in Minnesota, he joined the firm in 1991. The primary areas of his practice are criminal law, family law and civil litigation.
Tom is a 1991 graduate of South Dakota State University and a 1994 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law. After a one-year South Dakota circuit court clerkship, he joined the firm in 1995. Primary areas of practice include business planning and litigation, estate planning and probate, family law, real estate, and collections. He also serves as a mediator upon request of parties or attorneys concerning cases that are within his primary areas of practice.
